In September 2009, my prettiest pumpkin went to Stayer's Greenhouse in Allegany, NY and was featured in the Olean Times Herald the weekend it was dropped off:
We made the Wall Street Journal! My 907 was carved at Pumpkinville just in time for Patrick to be interviewed for a Halloween article about pumpkin carving. The pumpkin was carved during the contest, and left for display for almost two weeks.
My 1407 state record was featured in quite a few publications, all printed after the contest, and helped attract people to Pumpkinville, where it sat until Halloween. Here is an assortment:
I have sent several pumpkins for display and carving to the "Walk of Terror" in Allegany, NY from 2000 through 2005.
The last year we had carvings there, Patrick was featured in the Olean Times Herald.
In October 2001, two of my pumpkins (360 and 511 pounds) were professionally carved (Patrick Moser and Tim Bailey) at the Studio 4 East company store, and were featured in the Olean Times Herald.
